The “Word Wall” design is a homage to the mural at Stone Avenue Library, featuring Fry Words—the 1,000 words most used in reading and writing. This Carnegie library, located in Brownsville, Brooklyn, is thought to have been the first library dedicated solely to serving children when it opened in September 1914.
